The Austin Woman’s Club—
1. Works to maintain and preserve the North-Evans Chateau for the benefit of future generations. The North-Evans Chateau is a nationally-recognized landmark that was built in 1874. Club member dues and donations are the primary financial resource for maintaining the building and grounds. The Club has also received grants from the City of Austin and Austin Community Foundation, and continuously seeks additional funds and pro-bono support.

2. Provides a location for meetings and fund raisers for both non-profit, networking and educational organizations throughout the community.

3. Provides financial aid through the granting of Scholarship monies. These funds, which the Austin Woman’s Club contributed, are currently administered by the Austin Community Foundation. In 1950, an educational fund was established to enable young women who are juniors or seniors at the University of Texas at Austin to complete their education. The Austin Woman’s Club Howson/Mohrmann Scholarship Endowment Fund distributes money annually to worthy students. In 2007-2008, three $2000 scholarships will be awarded.

4. Holds weekly educational programs of an artistic, literary, and civic nature.

5. Is developing a partnership with Huston-Tillotson College and the Austin History Center to establish a multi-disciplinary educational tour and workbook for 4th graders to enrich their study of Texas history during the post-civil war era.

6. Provides, upon request, complimentary educational tours of our historic facility.
